The action cycles at the Fundació Espais were one of the few platforms dedicated to the stable programming of action art in Spain (1992-2008), with the aim of publicizing the research works practico-theory of the art of action of the most relevant artists in this field and delve into it.
The central idea of the project was the reflexive orientation, establishing an interaction between action and artistic performance with philosophical concepts that brought art closer to the real world and action was integrated into the dynamics of life. Under this line of thought, types of actions were presented, although different, they shared a poetic background, a political content or a desire to provoke discussions or highlight controversial situations of the moment.
These were some of the potentialities and challenges of the curation of action art at a time when artistic self-management dominated. And it was at this fruitful creative crossroads that the commitment of Marta Pol Rigau, as curator, and Jordi Font Agulló and Magdala Perpinyà Gombau, as co-artistic directors of the foundation, flowed.
