Azucena Momo «Weightless»
“Everything that weighs, does not weigh. And what is most weightless
is held by a cord.”
The relationship between weight and lightness is one of the fundamental elements in dance and the study of movement: how to release weight or how to display it in the body, in dialogue with other bodies. La Madonna de Port lligat belongs to Dalí’s mystical-nuclear period, during which he focused on the study of the atom and issues related to physics. At the same time, it depicts and honors his everyday context by using elements found in the landscape of Cap de Creus.
For this reason, the action proposes an exploration of the landscape through walking, like a procession without a virgin: bodies follow a line that dialogues between sky and earth. Inspired by the weightless figures appearing in La Madonna de Port lligat and the Mediterranean landscape visible from the olive garden, I propose a movement action between walking and dance, situating ourselves in a mystical universe where something as ordinary as milk connects with the dreamlike.
